Loce smiled at her, his fingers tracing light circles on her back. “Any preference as to location? I mean… Well, at Ilvermorny we’d ditch dances and such and find our way somewhere else. Maybe a beach… sand and surf, with a nice bonfire? Or maybe we go with something more local and bring the forest into the school…. Or Anywhere your heart desires.” He winked at her. Drinks and games… dangerous combination, but a fun one as well. “So… besides Cordelia and Liam… who do we ask? I was thinking Ezra and his date, and… if it wouldn’t be too awkward for you, Isla and her date? And can’t forget Wolf with a plus one?” He grinned at her, wanting to make the afterparty as wonderful as the actual homecoming was.
He stilled for a second as she admitted telling Cordelia, then smiled warmly at her. He had wondered if there was someone she confided in. His only confidant for the truth of his feeling would be his sister maybe his Grandmother, but his Gran always had the ability to read his mind before he could say anything. “So… is Cordelia supportive of us, or do I have a target on my back?” He asked half joking. He didn’t know Cordelia, or anyone else for that matter, well enough to know if their relationship was generally welcomed, unwelcome, or no one really cared but them. Discounting Fergus and O’Shea that was. He knew where he stood with them but didn’t care. However, being accepted by Anneli’s friends… that was important to him. That and since they were all teammates, it might get awkward if their relationship caused tension among them, especially since there was already that factor with Fergus. “Change in tactics is good sometimes, keeps people on their toes.”
He chuckled as the camera took its own pictures. That was the only problem with magicking cameras to take their own pictures, they developed a taste for what they wanted to see and forgot to care sometimes what the residents of the photos wanted. Then again, when they were moving photos, it didn’t much matter as the subjects never stayed in once place or position long.
As she kissed his cheek, he slipped his arm around her, pulling her closer still. One to send to Jackson... He started to wonder if Jackson would show Maddie, then she pulled him closer still and his focus was completely on her. His arms slipped around her waist as he held her gaze. Forever? She had said forever. His mind spun on exactly what that meant for the split second before she kissed him. He met her kiss with equal passion, wrapping his arms completely around her, holding them together. He saw the flash, registered a couple of comments from around them, but ignored everything but her, holding the kiss as long as he could.
He grinned as she commented that Jackson might be a bit sore. “Yeah, most likely, he got stuck with Maddie, and I have you.” Forever he repeated to himself, tucking that conversation away for another time. He also would love to see Maddie’s reaction, knowing full well that he would show her, well she would recognize his writing on the owl and would just take it from him if he didn't. Knowing, without even seeing the photo, that there was more depth to his and Anneli’s relationship displayed in that one kiss than ever existed between him and Maddie.
Her question called him back to her, back to the present. He nodded. “As you wish love.” The night was hers to command. Whatever she wanted he would make happen. He released he hips, taking her hand and squeezing it gently. The our part of the friends comment stuck with him. Were they truly his friends, or was he just an extension of Anneli to them? Did it matter? At the moment, no. What mattered was right next to him. And, if he had anything to say about it, she would be by his side Evigt. A smile played at his lips as he released her hand, slipping his arm back around her waist an leading her from the dance floor back over towards the refreshment table.

Reece laughs, “Liam, my guy, way to set up the evening.” He nods appreciatively and grabs his own drink off of the refreshments table. He swirls the liquid in his cup and takes a sip, “Oh yeah, It could definitely use a little something… extra.” He stares off into the sea of students again, often gatherings like this, even with the most jovial of beginnings would end with some form of chaos. A fight or two perhaps. That would really make the night memorable.
He glances at Cordelia, the perfect image of a nonchalant attitude combined with stunning looks. His brain conjured up a few other ways the night could be memorable. “Cheers to a good night, yeah?” He smirks lifting his cup to both Liam and Cordelia and wonders for a moment if he had interrupted something.
Reece looks around the room. It’s lively and everyone seems to be having a good time. Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff? All are represented on the dance floor. Mingling, dancing, and even some kissing going on. He wonders at what point one of the professors might have to intervene. That must be an unpleasant part of chaperoning dances like these.
He returns his attention to the group just as some other fellow Slytherins join the fray. “Who do we think will cause the most trouble tonight?” He asks, mostly facing Liam. He doesn't know many of his housemates all that well. Reece hopes for a little bit of excitement tonight. Something off the planned schedule, unexpected, entertaining.

Zander turned spotting Niamh in the crowd making her way toward him. He smiled as she approached. "Hey, Niamh," he greeted her, feeling a sense of relief to see her friendly face. She was looking great in a long pink dress. "You look amazing!" He says,. "A Beauty." He smiles and it lights up his face, “I’m glad you didn’t fall.” He says and then offered his arm toher, “Let's make sure that doesn’t happen.” He says. He thanks her for her remark, saying he looked sharp. It was nice to hear. “Had to look sharp for you.” He winks. He places his hand over Niamh’s that rests on his arm and begins to walk into the dense crowd of students. He leads her straight to the enormous table that’s piled with every kind of sweet you could imagine.
“What’s your favorite?” He asks Niamh, eying the expansive selection.

"Got ya covered, mate." He pulls out a small bottle from an inner pocket and gives it to Reece. Then he add some to his own cup before offering some to Cordelia. "Need something a little stronger?" he asks.
"Cheers, my friends." He sips his drink and then looks over at Reece with a raised eyebrow. "What, you're not planning on causing any trouble tonight?" He jokes. He scans the crowd and takes in everyone mingling together. "My money would be on Loce and Anneli. Maybe not starting anything, but getting involved in something for sure. Tensions are high after that quidditch match."

"They really did an amazing job," she says and glances around the hall again. All of the decorations, from the ceiling to the centerpieces on each of the tables -- every detail was exquisite. "It must have taken so much time to plan and get right." She admired those who put it together. She's grateful they didn't do a lazy job. Events like this were special and it's important to go all out to make them so special.
Her skin tingles where his fingers brush her skin as he pushes her hair into place. She glances at his hand and nods. "You absolutely may have this dance." She set her drink down and slid her hand into his. This was the closest they'd been. No table between them. Her breath caught and she really hoped he didn't notice. She stepped forward with him onto the dance floor, knowing they'd be even closer in a matter of seconds. Would she faint? She hoped not. She wanted to really experience this evening and remember it all.

Theo laughs, his hand rubbing the back of his head, perhaps nervously. He wasn’t used this side of Isla Reinhardt. Light and playful. She tended to seem so serious. Like her thoughts were a million miles away. But she was very present now.
It was hard to comprehend that this is the same girl he’s played side by side with. He was accustomed to seeing her in the multiple layers that were worn as their regular school uniforms…. And now he she was looking more like a movie star than anything. He found it increasingly difficult to not let his eyes wander up and down her form. The teenage boy in him making itself very present in the moment.
Her hand slipped into his and the touch of her soft skin is electrifying.
He was pretty sure that the teenage boy side of him was going to lose the battle tonight, he just hoped he wouldn’t do anything stupid to embarrass himself. Isla compliments him and he tugs at his tie with his free hand, the thing that had given him the most trouble getting ready. He knew it still wasn’t done correctly and felt a bit uncomfortable over it. “Thanks.” He smiles at her.
He walks hand-in-hand with her to the refreshments table. It looks like a large group of Slytherins have gathered, but he also sees Ameryn and Oliver nearby with a boy he didn’t know. Maybe Ameryn’s date?
“Ey, Team.” He greets upon entering their space. He felt a sense of pride showing up with Isla, looking so beautiful. She had wanted a drink so he pulled his hand from hers, moving as quickly as possibly to pour one for both of them. "For my lovely date," He offers her a cup and as soon as she takes it he is quick to intertwine his fingers with hers again.
It felt nice.

“I’m not starting anything tonight, not during the dance anyway.” He offered, re-joining the group of Slytherins and giving Anneli a quick wink. Not wanting to openly invite anyone to anything just yet but hinting too something in the works for later. “So what’s in the bottle?” He asks, reaching for a glass of punch and offering one to Anneli. She had wanted to rejoin the group but coming in on that last part of the conversation… He eyed Cordelia, the one of the trio he trusted the most, looking to see if his presence was actually welcome. He knew loyalties could be split between him and Fergus, given everything. And since he was the newcomer… But as Cordelia was Anneli’s friend, and she’d wanted to re-join the group… He pushed his hair out of his eyes. “So, other than skirting the spiking rule, you have anything else planned? Or are we leaving the trouble to others for the evening?” He asked, an attempt to fit into the given conversation. He glanced around the room, remembering his task for the evening. He quickly located Ghica, he hadn’t moved from his post by the door. He’d have to fix that later, but he had a few things arranged that he could use if needed. He then spotted the others, not able to catch their eyes as they were both wrapped up in their dates. He knew that feeling. The charms contest would be starting soon enough. That was when he’d need to be on point. “Anyone entering the charms contest?” He asked, curious to see what everyone thought.

Wesley delights at touching Heather, being able to rub circles on the back of her hand with his thumb. He starts by twirling her, a spin that sends her away from him and then pulls her back in. He one hand stays holding hers and the other moving to rest on her hip. "I'm glad out paths crossed the way the they did." He says, grinning.
As they stepped fully onto the dance floor, Wesley feels a sense of peace wash over him. Now that he was here with Heather, everything felt right. As they danced, he felt a sense of connection with her, thinking… honestly, could be the beginning of something? "I'm glad you agreed to be my date tonight." He says.
As the song came to an end and another started Wesley didn’t want to let go yet. He hoped she wouldn’t mind staying here, at least a little bit longer. He spins her again, secretly grateful for the dancing his mother taught him from when he young. One thing that stuck with him was girls liked to be spun. If he could hear her laugh? Make her smile? He’d spin her in circles all night until they collapse to the floor with smiles and good moods.
As the next song fades again and another starts, the music is slower and romantic, and Wesley held Heather closer as they swayed to the rhythm. He couldn't believe how good it felt to be holding her in his arms. "I'm... glad..." His voice trails off and a sudden surge courses through him and he leans in and planted a soft kiss on Heather's lips.
For a moment, he forgets about the world around them, lost in the moment of their first kiss.

Cordelia sees a flash of white and after a second glance, she realizes it’s Liam. He would go against the norm and wear a white suit... And he would pull it off effortlessly. “Hey Liam,” She greets after having hustled Loce and Anneli away. Before she could say anything else another figure enters the space.
She eyes Reece not so subtly up and down. His dark suit next to Liam’s light suit was almost comically yin and yang. The dark and the light. “Reece.” She greets, staring at him a moment longer before turning to the dancing bodies out on the floor.
“Oh, Pumpkin juice.” She answered in a tiresome tone. She sips the sweet drink casually. Her blue eyes follow Reece’s pointed nod and she sees Liam’s group of admirers and chuckles a little bit. “Liam, do you know if your Fan Club meets on Tuesdays or Wednesdays? I Just want to make sure it doesn’t interfere with Quidditch Practice.” She teases.
Her attention returns to Reece who calls her beautiful. She brushes her long blonde hair back behind her shoulder on one side, “Thank you Reece.” She smirks and turns back to Liam who is offering a little extra something for their drinks. Why not? She casts a cautious, subtle glance around to pinpoint the locations of any chaperones, before shrugging and holding her cup out to Liam.
She tilts her head slightly up and down after Liam's remark. She wouldn't be surprised if there was some skirmish surrounding Anneli, Loce and others. She hoped not though. Anneli had been so looking forward to tonight; drama free would probably be the best, albeit a little boring, option.
As if summoned, Loce and Anneli reenter the grouping. She takes a sip of her newly... modified... drink and scrunches her nose up a bit at the stinging bitterness of it. Her instinct was to fully grimace but she was able to stop herself.

Post by Professor Juniper Barnes on Apr 10, 2023 11:05:52 GMT -8
As they converse, the music of the wizarding band playing in the background creates a festive and joyful backdrop. Juniper feels a sense of connection with her fellow colleagues, enjoying the moment and the conversation as the students continue to dance and enjoy themselves around them.
Drake mentioned the snow being lovely and memories of frosty nights at home by the fireplace sprung forth in her mind. A warm cup of tea between her hands. Yes, snow can be lovely. Dangerous and brutal, but lovely. What a versatile thing.
Juniper listened closely to Isadora and Drake’s comments regarding some… particular students, students who would benefit from a little extra supervision. Seemed like tensions were a bit high between certain individuals and schoolyard romance was the center of it all. Juniper had been looking off into the crowd of young kids as they all spoke but turns her attention momentarily back to Drake when he remarks on the fleeting fire of young love. It was eloquently put and she nodded in agreement.
"These kids, at their age, feel everything so strongly." Everything feels like the end of the world. A bad grade. A losing quidditch match. An unrequited crush. These kids had so much to experience outside of these halls… but for now, this was where they lived it all. The highs and lows.
Drake again addresses her directly, Mr. Vaisey. His name seems to pop-up quote a bit. "Often the brightest students are also the ones pushing boundaries and testing limits" She would expect interesting things from him in her class, that was certain.
She wishes she had a better grasp on who was who but it was the beginning of the year yet and she was new to all this. She was allowing herself the grace to not know everything.
She felt thankful to have such experienced and capable colleagues by her side. She knew the staff here was extraordinary and she couldn’t wait to meet more of them. Perhaps a nice staff luncheon or dinner would be a great way to socialize and exchange stories. Perhaps she should run the idea past Isadora after the excitement from this event fades a bit…

Drake smiled as she said the kids felt everything so strongly. He didn’t remember being that young, but he remembered being so much in love that nothing else mattered. He shook his head slightly, pushing the memories back into the vault. “And therefore they tend to need the most guidance… Keep their minds from becoming idle and spare us a little bit of trouble perhaps?” He nodded to the group of Slytherins gathered at the refreshment table. “The boy in the kilt is Mr. Vaisey, and girl he is attached to… would be Ms. Oden. Both are very bright, very talented. I will be interested to see where they end up after Hogwarts.” He let his eyes scan the room, picking up snippets of conversations here and there. Nothing out of the ordinary, at least not yet. But the night was still young. “So, will you be helping judge the Charms contest?” He asked Juniper, given it was her subject and all, he figured she might be so inclined. Charms had never been his favorite subject, he remembered having to repeat a year or two in school since he did anything and everything to avoid going to class. It wasn’t until he understood the link between Charms and the dark arts that his interest had been captured and held.

Her skin shivered under his fingers, the circulation motion mesmerizing her. She wondered briefly if Loce might have some sort of power. How had she become entranced without the use of magic? It was something beyond her. She was delighted by the connection, no matter the lack of full explanation. Her lips curled into a smile. “A beach sounds nice, bonfire even better…I would love to go for a dip before it becomes too cold.” Anneli winked. She had lived through colder winters in Switzerland. Her hands ran through his hair casually, her fingertips grateful for the touch.
“I’m happy to invite any Slytherin, with the exception of Fergus…” She paused, “Ezra and his date, absolutely.” Anneli liked the pair. “Isla, sure. Though I could imagine her telling Gwendolyn Shaw…Fergus’ date. It’s no matter to me though, a friend of yours is a friend of mine.” She shrugged, her eyes dancing around the room. Anneli had felt odd about their first interaction and the fact that Isla was Fergus’ sister. But she wouldn’t let that come in the way of what he wanted, especially seeing as he wanted to make friends.
She smiled warmly up to him, caressing his jawline. “Cordelia is, yes. She’s one of my closest, if only, true friends. I wish the trend of approval would continue…though I do think we have most of our house’s support.” She laughed.
Anneli walked back to the group of Slytherins with Loce, her waist being taken by his arm. She would walk anywhere with him, talk to whoever with him. Loce felt like a true partner. A true equal. Despite the looks on them, she felt happy by his side. Anneli could care less for what anyone thought, with the exception of Cordelia and the Quidditch team…
She took the glass of punch from Loce, scanning the table and taking note of new arrivals. “We’re looking to host an afterparty tonight…All Slytherins welcome.” Anneli said mischievously, “Though, I prefer some space from Fergus tonight. If you could respect not informing him of the whereabouts, I’d be indebted. Details to follow.” She winked to her group of friends. Anneli eyed one of the new Slytherin boys curiously, he wasn’t familiar to her. She shot Cordelia a glance, wondering who he might be. Anneli took a sip of the bitter punch.
“I might give it a shot.” She mused, peering toward the stage. Anneli found it difficult to restrain herself from a challenge.

Post by Headmistress Isadora Gunvald on Apr 11, 2023 18:43:46 GMT -8
Isadora nodded in agreement to Juniper’s sentiment about young teens feeling everything strongly. She smiled to her glass, remembering a young love she had within the very castle they were in now. Their love had continued past graduation, and might have lasted longer had Rhys not gone into the forest that night…She shook her head. It was time to refocus away from those thoughts. Rhys loved dancing, she thought passively looking over the students. She glanced toward the table of Slytherins with her colleagues. Isadora’s gaze fell to Mr. Vaisey and Ms. Oden. A feeling of knowing ran through her. Knowing what it felt like to find love that young. Professor Gunvald smiled toward the table, happy to keep suspicions minimal tonight. She thought the entire table was beaming with confidence and cunning. Professor Gunvald smiled toward Juniper as Drake asked her if she would be helping to judge, “You’re my co-judge for the night? Perhaps we could use a third to decide…Drake?” Isadora laughed, her guard over the students slipping for just a moment. She patted her dress and smiled. “I’m not sure if our students are ready for a panel of three Professors…” She paused, “Though perhaps it will make them step up? Show what they got?” Isadora grinned. “We can judge my audience response, and our own rating 1-5?” (1 = needs work, 3 = proficient, 5 = excellent) She waited for their responses before turning to the crowd of students, ready to commence the Contest of Charms… The Contest of Charms Begins Isadora strode to the stage offset from the dance floor. It was decorated with autumn flowers and glowing pumpkins around the front and levitating around the curtains. She beamed at the sea of students. Professor Gunvald nodded to the Wandslingers, who promptly lowered their instruments. Isadora pulled her wand out, amplifying her voice, “Greetings all!” She smiled, “I hope you have all been enjoying your evenings thus far…” Isadora looked at the members of each house. “It is my pleasure to commence this year's Contest of Charms! Welcome to all to join, please line up next to the stage and enter onto the stage one at a time. You will need to present 1 charm of your liking in an attempt to entertain, educate, or WOO the crowd. The use of props is accepted.” “You will be judged by crowd reaction and a panel of Professors – the charm may be as basic or advanced as you’d like as long as it’s allowed on school grounds. Sometimes, the more simple charms pack a punch.” Professor Gunvald winked and grinned, “When you are ready, please announce your arrival to the stage and perform your charm…”
Isadora stepped off the stage then. The band continued playing at a lower volume, they would change their pace to fit the scene. She stood in front of the stage alongside Juniper and Drake.

Drake noticed a subtle change in Isadora’s expression with the talk of young love. Thoughts of the past most likely, thoughts he himself fought to suppress. Although he had a lot more time to master that suppression. He raised an eyebrow when she asked him to join the judging. “As long as you are not asking me to judge technique to accurately, I would be honored to help.” He hesitated then added. “On the condition, that after, perhaps you find a moment to enjoy a dance for yourself?” The kids would be winding down by then, so it should be fine to lower their guard long enough for a dance.

Isla’s smile wouldn’t budge from her face. She was entirely taken by Theo. His tall frame and confident, yet humble attitude. His personality was a stark difference to the boys she met at home or Fergus’ friends. They existed in a state of seriousness and arrogance. Theo, on the other hand, seemed perfectly confident in being himself. Plus, he was an amazing Keeper. Isla thought he was a catch. A better catch than the Snitch. She noticed his eyes move down her dress and blushed. Isla wasn’t used to the attention, especially from a teammate. She moved her hands up to adjust his tie, becoming closer than she was before. It felt nice. She was close to him, and yet her nerves weren’t overtaking her. Maybe it was because she already knew Theo, he made her feel natural in her own skin. They made their way back to friends. Isla grinned as she arrived with Theo. She was pretty sure the entire team, and her brother, were wondering about the seriousness of their date tonight. Isla wondered the same. Would they see each other past the dance? She couldn’t be sure. “Hey everyone!” Isla said enthusiastically. Her dress sparkled under the light. She was just about to take a sip from the drink Theo handed her when the Headmistress made the announcement that the Contest of Charms would be starting. Isla looked to the table, “I suppose I’ll give it a go.” She smiled, squeezing Theo’s hand. Isla turned to walk toward the decorated stage. She was mostly nervous about tripping in her dress. Her eyes looked to the room. It suddenly felt like there were more students than before. Eyes all peering up at her. She held her head up high, not allowing fear to get in the way of her performance. The brown prop box on the stage appeared to be enchanted to provide whatever might be needed. “Accio, frog choir.” She said softly. Suddenly, a set of five giant, lumpy frogs appeared on pedestals. Their slimy eyes looked over the crowd before they started bellowing the rhythm of the ‘Hoggy Warty Hogwarts’. Their hums were low, barely audible for the first two rows to hear. Isla took a step back, pulling out her wand. In one swoop, she asserted, “Sonorus!” The frogs’ croaks went up in volume, their song filling the Great Hall. Their hums echoed off the walls. The volume wasn’t loud enough to hurt the senses, just boisterous enough to get people moving and singing along. The played the song through, and then Isla placed them back into the prop box. She was proud of her use of the amplifying charm. Isla had never used it on a choir of frogs, so the plan worked better than expected. She made a quick bow and grinned, “Thank you!”
Isla strolled off the stage, back to Theo. “Here's to hoping the judges like frogs.” She laughed, moving to take his hand again.
