Sophia bounces around a private meeting room in the back of the Three broomsticks. She was more nervous than she should have been. She almost knocked into the table that was set with snacks and drinks. Not a lot, but enough to acknowledge they knew how to act in polite society. She wasn’t convinced that a Headmistress would care about family backgrounds, but since it was her Grandmother’s idea, she wasn’t going to contradict her. She knew her grades were good enough to get her accepted. They had permission from her parents to let her Gran act as their signatory on anything that may need to be signed. So why was she nervous? Mostly, as much as she missed Loce and knew her brother loved her, was she intruding too much by transferring without asking him first? “Sophia please. Your nerves will wear a hole in the floor if you are not careful. Set up the chess board, we will play until she arrives.” Serena smiles at her granddaughter. Between getting to see her brother and meeting the Headmistress of Hogwarts the girl was certainly over stimulated. Hopefully she could hold it together for the Headmistress. It wouldn’t do to present as an over energetic bottle of energy, even with transcripts like hers. Sophia smiled at her grandmother and nodded. “Yes ma’am.” She said, quickly getting the board and setting it up on the table where her grandmother was sitting. “Your move.” Sophie prompted, waiting for her Grandmother’s opening move. She would typically give away her strategy within three moves. Sophie had not lost to her grandmother or brother in about three years. Serena grinned and shook her head. “No m’am. Your move, it is the only hope I have.” She winked at her granddaughter, as proud of her as she was of Loce. The two would go far with the right guidance. And from what Loce had told her, that guidance would best come from the current staff at Hogwarts. They settled into the game, waiting for Headmistress Gunvald to join them.

Post by Headmistress Isadora Gunvald on May 27, 2023 21:49:41 GMT -8
Isadora strolled down the streets of Hogsmeade with a few particular students in mind. She had recently received transcripts for two new students. Sophia Lythgoe, Loce's younger sister, had been the first to reach out with her family. They had yet to meet, though she already knew Sophia would be a fantastic addition to Hogwarts. The second had come from Mr. Everten and Johanna Oden. Her time at the ministry had familiarized her with the Oden brothers. Halvar, Ludvig, and Everten Oden were a trio of Pureblood brothers well known throughout Germany and the surrounding areas. In some parts of society, they were revered as leaders that reconnected a dark past to the present. They were at one time united under their father, Halvar Oden I, a well-known Death Eater in his time. Halvar Oden I had retreated back to the German mountains after the Battle of Hogwarts. His cunning had helped him live a long life. Long enough to birth three boys. Professor Gunvald had been less keen on taking in Magdalena, Anneli Oden's cousin. However, her perfect marks and positions at Durmstrang had left little to argue with. Sophia Lythgoe and Magdelena Oden would be the newest members of the school. Isadora knew this was inviting risk, but wanted any potential threats to be closer to her and Drake. The closer, the better. She walked into her old stomping grounds with a grin. The Three Broomsticks had been a haven for studying and late night gatherings with Rhys and her house. Isadora had been a rule-breaker in her time. She greeted the bar tender and a few old friends with gracious welcoming before moving to the back private room. Professor Gunvald entered the room, smiling warmly as she spotted Loce's grandmother Serena and Sophia. A chess match before them, clearly buzzing with anticipation. At least on Sophia's end. She seldom met personally with transfer student's families outside of the castle. Isadora scanned the board, slightly nodding as she saw the next move she would make. She watched Sophia make that move and grinned. A Ravenclaw. "Good morning," She welcomed, her voice compelling yet warm, "I barely made it past the holiday shoppers. I hope I'm not interrupting a good game," Isadora chuckled, looking toward the window. Below was a street full of running, excited children and groups of adults with bags of gifts. She approached Loce's grandmother and shook her hand softly in greeting. Isadora then turned to Sophia, "I'm happy to meet both of you. You can call me Isadora." She introduced herself, smiling, "Though inside the castle it's Professor Gunvald." She winked at Sophia, hoping to calm her nerves. It would be best if she knew she was already welcomed in. "I wanted to offer you this first..." Isadora reached into her bag, pulling out an official looking piece of parchment. She smiled warmly, offering it to them. The letter read: 'Dear Sophia Lythgoe,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a transfer student. Your impressive marks and transfer application were impressive....'The letter continued on to detail the specific details of sorting and moving in. Isadora found a comfortable spot in a lounge nearby, watching as they read the letter. She smiled as she scanned Sophia's face. "I'm happy to welcome you to Hogwarts, if that is still your decision," She glanced between the two, smiling at Sophia, "I'm sure Loce would be thrilled to have his sister back in the same school." Isadora winked at her, a friendly offering. She understood the nerves young people felt around authority figures. Her aim was to quell that worry in her. If anything, she was thrilled herself. Professor Gunvald had taken a particular interest in Loce and Anneli. They were defying odds being together. She knew that it shouldn't work between the two, but a natural connection had forged it's own path. She looked to Serena, "I must tell you, Loce has been a kindred spirit to quite a few students across all houses. His dedication to class is reflected in his role on the Slytherin team. Plus, he has been fair in his duty as Prefect," Isadora shook her head, smiling, "I think he has a proclivity for mischief, but nothing past what I've done as a student. Another student, Anneli Oden, has proven quite close to him." Isadora probed, wondering if Serena had been filled in on their relationship. If anything, she would be another resource to help protect the young couple.

Serena smiled at Professor Gunvald as she entered the room, nodding at Sophia, indicating her concentration on the game by way of apology for not moving. “I do forget how busy it gets here during the holidays. We appreciate your meeting with us here, given the circumstances.” She watched as Sophia made her next move and chuckled, tipping her king on his side and turning back to their guest. “The game is a lost cause, at least for me. I do not believe I have beat Sophia in a good three years now.” She shook Isadora’s hand and smiled. “Serena. It is a pleasure to meet you. I apologize for sending my Grandson to deliver Loce, but I was unable to get away from a previous engagement.” She said, and turned to Sophia, nodding at her. Sophie ignored the door as she was concentrating fully on the game at hand. It was her only way of keeping nerves and excitement at bay. However, once she completed her move and her grandmother conceded the match she turned to engage with the conversations at hand. “Hello Professor. Thank you for meeting with us.” Sophie says, standing and offering her hand to Professor Gunvald. “My Gran would skin me alive if I dared to be so impertinent address an adult by their given name.” she shrugged then winked at her Grandmother. Sophie took the proffered letter with a squeal of delight. She caught the fleeting frown cross her grandmother’s features but ignored it. She was too excited. She quickly scanned the letter and then passed it to her Grandmother, turning her attention back to her new Headmistress. “Yes, that is still my decision. I would love to come to Hogwarts.” She grinned looking to her Grandmother, the financial burden of changing mid-year would fall on her Grandmother’s shoulders, her parents could not afford it on their salaries. She couldn’t wait to start. The thought of spending time with Loce and Anneli made her smile. Of course, that would be only part of it. But a lot of it. She would already have friends here. Well, a brother and pseudo-sister at any rate. That would ease the transition some. Classes might be a little challenging, she didn’t know how different things were here than back in Ilvermorny. Serena stood, moving to a more comfortable chair, closer to the lounge. “It seems you have a new student then. I shall see she is properly equipped when she begin after Christmas break.” She listened as Isadora spoke fondly of Loce. Less matter of fact than most of the meetings she had been part of while he was at Ilvermorny. The Headmaster there had little liking for or acceptance of her Grandson. Although her son and daughter-in-law were devastated when Loce was expelled, she had been secretly thrilled. Give him a new start, somewhere the foolishness of his eleven year old self would not hold him back. She chuckle. “Proclivity I an understatement, unless he has tempered himself significantly in the last three months.” She smiled genuinely as she knew Loce could be a downright handful when he got his mind to it. She took the opening to turn the topic to the true reason she had wanted the face-to-face meeting. “Ms. Oden, is the daughter of Halvar Oden, the younger am I correct?” She asked, wanting to make sure she had done her research correctly. She would not fault the child for her parentage. However, one does not just date a person, if they are together long enough, they end up courting the family. “And then, it would follow that he has already given his word of her hand in marriage to another family.?” She knew she could wait and ask Anneli herself, but did not wish to put her on the spot, nor put Loce on the defensive. He had illuded to some issues surrounding their relationship but had failed to state them outright. Sophie looked between her Grandmother and Professor Gunvald as her grandmother had started questioning her. She knew better than to interrupt adults while they were speaking, so she busied herself with resetting the game board and attempting to disappear into the background and give the adults as much privacy as she could without outright leaving the room.
