Anneli almost shifted forward in her seat upon feeling a light pressure on her back, but leaned slightly into it instead, recoiling and disappointed as he retracted his hand. She wasn’t sure what to feel in this moment, especially with Fergus right there. Definitely. Whenever you like. She took note of that, hoping that he might one day ask her to make whatever concoction a PB&J was with her.
She took steady notes, her flowing cursive painting the parchment in emerald annotations. Anneli couldn’t help but to smile as Loce quickly answered Professor Gunvald’s question correctly. "Nice." Quick witted, she thought mindlessly, keeping her mind to the lesson as much as possible.
Anneli peered around the room as bouquets formed, taking note of Loce’s silver roses. They were a rare color and form – just as he was, she thought. She gazed at Loce for a moment, wondering if he could have any idea what was running though her mind in that moment. Just then, a pink rose appeared on the desk before her.
She looked up to see Fergus, raising his eyebrow. Anneli remained poised, though quickly picked up the flower to hand it back to him. “Thank you, but I don’t think our team will require much luck this year.” She said, peering toward Loce. “Thank you, Fergus.” Anneli said, more softly this time, handing the flower back to him. She could feel a small swell of a blush appear. This was strange, he had never shown such gestures before, anyway…
Anneli shook the thought from her mind and asserted softly, “Orchideous.” A full bouquet of lavender roses and pink stock took life before her, landing gracefully on her desk. She quickly noted that hers had taken the same form of Loces, though she didn't play much weight into such measures. Anneli looked toward him quickly, offering a smile. She was sure they would talk about Fergus, now.

Loce nodded at Fergus. “Cap is what we used to call the student overlords at Ilvermorny. It started out as a slight, taken from the muggle military rank of captain. But we used it so much between ourselves, it just became a term of respect. So… While Anneli may be the team captain, you technically are still Cap.” If he were back there, he’d be called it too by the others. Of course, he would never have gained that role there. He had too many strikes against him.
He caught the movement as Fergus shifted in his seat and placed a rose on the desk in front of Anneli. He had every desire to brush it off onto the floor. But it was not his call to make. He casually watched the interaction between Anneli and Fergus from the corner of his eye, hoping to appear as if he either hadn’t noticed or it hadn’t caused him to want to turn Fergus into a toad or something. He was emboldened by her initial sharp tone then sighed as she softened and blushed in response to Fergus’ gesture.
He grinned at her and nodded as she said the team didn’t need luck this year. “I think we’ve got a pretty good team going on.” He settled with that, although any other time he would have said that a bit of luck wouldn’t hurt. But… he didn’t want to give her a reason to keep the rose.
He silently wondered what Professor Gunvald read into his conjuring the silver roses. Rare color, yes, but if you had to conjure something, why make it a common every-day item? Right, more explanation is better than less. He made note of her teaching style as she awarded points to Ravenclaw. And then rolled his eyes at the professor’s declarations over Fergus’ bouquet. But it got the house points so…
Loce watched as Anneli conjured a lavender and pink bouquet. Maybe he should have put in a little more effort. Naw, that was for when there were actual grades being assigned to the work. He returned her smile with a quick wink, once again stretching his arm along the back of her chair and lightly letting his fingers rest against her back.

Gwen was looking forward to this class. At least, far better than any potions lessons she would inevitably have to endure. As she took in the faces around her she mentally noted that she should get to know more fellow students this year… and perhaps the upcoming dance Isla and her have been co-organizing would give her that opportunity. She peeks back for a moment, attempting at subtlety, to see Fergus toward the back of the room with other Slytherins and then turns her attention to Isla, “We should figure out any finalizing details we’re missing.” Gwen says in agreement.
She quietly and smoothly took out some supplies. Parchment. A thin, delicate quill of a deep red feather that graduates from light to dark, leading to the black tip. She writes out information at the top: The date. The course. The professor’s name. Mostly just to test out the new writing implement. She smiles as the ink runs smoothly across the paper. She works quickly but efficiently when she takes notes, making the page look almost like a work of art in the way she lays it out and organizes each section of material. Perhaps it's the artist in her, she can’t help but to make it aesthetically pleasing.
She peeks up from her detailed labeling when a pastry gets placed on her desk. She smiles warmly at the girl who radiates a happiness as she flits around the room. Gwen smiles and continues her doodling when the boldly marked bird transforms into the professor, demanding the attention of the room. Gwen smiles again, feeling that earlier excitement for this class.
Despite knowing the answer to the question, Gwen was not often the first to speak in class. She was on the more quiet, observant side, but her assignments and marks always exampled that she was an excellent student. “Delightful.” Gwen chuckles, upon seeing the bouquet of flowers springing up all around them, but mostly she was remarking at Islas bright display. Gwen took a breath, centered herself and focused. “Orchideous.” She speaks clearly and with diligent wand movement, a handful of white roses appear speckled with sections of lavender. She turns it around in her hand, inspecting them and giving them a quick sniff. The roses were pretty, a chiffony white and the lavender smelled amazing. She smiles at Isla, “Not too rough for the first day of classes.” She laughs quietly with her friend.

Fergus shrugged and smiled as he earned Slytherin house points with a simple charm. Absolute madness, he thought mindlessly, his thoughts drifting to Durmstrang momentarily.
He almost flinched when Anneli handed the rose back to him. Although she was correct in her sentiment, the rejection felt too honest. It wasn’t like the fleeting moments of teasing and flirting they had previously shared. It felt real. He peered toward Loce, who seemed all too happy to be sitting in the spot next to her. In either case, they were all teammates. Fergus would need to adjust his behavior over the storm of emotions settling in. Thank you, Fergus. And a blush. This offered hope. Maybe she was just toying with the newcomer to make him envious. If that were her plan, she had directly shot her target.
“Agreed, we do.” He said, though his teeth were more closely together than they should. “See you around.” Fergus said, turning to peer over toward Isla’s desk, where Gwen had just created a bundle of white roses. He sighed and turned to the front, ready to finish this lesson and head to the pitch.

END OF LESSON / FINAL POINT COUNT Isadora beamed, happy that the overall level of her class to be beyond proficient. They might progress faster than initially expected. She strolled over to a few more desks, offering feedback to a few students who had only produced one flower. "Poppy, the reflection of yourself into the product is brilliant...though If you move your wand slightly upwards at the end of the incantation, you might create a fuller bouquet." She said, slightly unapproving. Isadora had expected more from Ms. Blomst, especially since she had been the assisting staff in the greenhouses. "Excellent, Ms. Oden," She said, nodding in approval before turning to the other side of the room. Just then she spotted Gwendolyn Shaw creating a handful of white roses mingled with lavender. "Well, done Ms. Shaw! Your arrangement and use of lavender show great promise. +5 points to Gryffindor for the thought you put into your first assignment." She said warmly before turning to the class... "Well done, all! I'm impressed that most of you have been keeping up with your basic transfiguration charms. I'll be expecting you all back tomorrow, we will continue to focus on applications within the four branches of Transfiguration." Professor Gunvald walked back to her before taking flight as a magpie once again, perching over her students and watching them file from the door.
