Isla glanced toward the face of a massive antique clock that stood in the corridor. It was just past lunch, and students were soon to be filing out of the Great Hall. It was just the day before when Isla met Gwen, a fellow Gryffindor and potential friend who had agreed to plan a Homecoming Dance with her. It was out of character for her to dedicate time to such a trivial event, however she was true to the promise to herself, this would be a new kind of school year.
She peered anxiously around the corridor, waiting in the spot she had asked Gwen to meet her. The Headmistress would be patrolling by any minute now, and Isla was worried that her new friend might miss the chance to request the event…

Gwen sweeps the front sections of her hair back with the handy use of a claw clip, one of her mothers. Her bangs fell instantly back into their proper place by her forehead. It didn't keep all the hair out of her eyes, but the main front sections, which is what she wanted. Gwen always used the claw clip when she was getting serious studying or during an exam. It was as if it allowed a breath of focus to fill her body when her hair was pulled up that way... and she felt like she needed just that for this meeting. With a quick straightening of her robes, she was off to meet Isla... who was standing exactly where she said she'd be.
"Hogwarts homecoming, here we come." She says with A warm smile, by way of greeting. Gwen posts up beside Isla unsure from which direction Headmistress Gunvald would be coming from, her eyes scan the hallway at both ends.

She breathed a quick sigh of relief and grinned as Gwen approached her, "Hey Gwen!" Isla said enthusiastically, happy to finally release that energy, "I think it's time to shake up Hogwarts," The girl made Isla feel naturally comfortable, a welcome change from the heavy circumstances filling her home life, "Happy we're on the same page."
"She should be walking from the Great Hall any moment. Patrols the same corridors every day after lunch." Isla said, scanning the crowd once more for the Headmistress...

Isadora flew above the crowd of students in the Great Hall, using her Magpie senses to sniff out any mischief. It was just past one, students would soon be filing from the room and into their next class. She dove down in between a set of chuckling students until she made her way through the exit into the corridors. In a flash, her small bird form and wings transformed into a human form with a blonde bun and traditional Professor robes. She tucked a loose lock of hair behind her ear before holding her head high, smiling at students as she progressed down the hallway.
Just then, a pair of students walked up to her. "Yes, girls? What can I help you with?" Her tone was welcoming but she still raised an eyebrow, unsure what the pair looked so anxious about. She recognized both of their faces, Isla Reinhardt and Gwendolyn Shaw. Isadora had been the one to place the sorting hat on their heads the night they were sorted into Gryffindor.

Isla cast a smile toward Gwen before grabbing her elbow and running toward Professor Gunvald. She couldn't help her enthusiasm, a new friend and the idea of organizing their own ball at school...A fifth year's dream. Especially a fifth year with too many secrets and the weight of a prophecy laying on her shoulders. "Hello, Headmistress." Isla greeted, grinning at her, "Gwen and I had an idea that might...help bring the houses together for the new year." She said diplomatically, pausing before continuing, not wanting to wasting of their Professor's time, "A Homecoming Ball for each house to come together for, a dance. We were wondering if we could request your approval, and potentially...help...organizing the location and details, if you think this is a good idea, of course..." Isla was usually confident, though the idea of proposing a dance to the Headmistress felt ridiculous in that moment. She smiled and looked to Gwen for reassurance. With everything going on with Fergus, was this even a good idea?

Isadora peered at Gwen and then Isla, their enthusiasm shining throughout the request. She briefly thought of her time at Hogwarts, smiling internally. Isadora had been too young to attend the Yule Ball, where she had desperately wished to see the Triwizard campions. Professor Gunvald sighed, thinking to some of the potential hazards and oversight the dance would require...thinking for a few moments, Isadora slowly nodded her head, "A dance could help bring some light to start of term. Get out some energy before we delve into more challenging topics." Professor Gunvald quickly revealed a piece of parchment, and without laying a hand on her quill, begun writing. She then turned the levitated parchment to both of them, which read: Homecoming Dance Guide and RulesSetting: The Great Hall Time: October 1, 7 pm-10:30pm (IRL Dates will keep the dance open from April 1-15. Giving players 2 weeks to post in the dance). Food: Prepared by Hogwarts House Elves. No spiked drinks, please. Rules: Formal attire, respectful dancing, use of school-approved spells only (i.e. not dangerous). Adult chaperones will be present to award/take away points as they see fit. Theme/Design: Your choice. Though please include space for a dance floor, tables, chairs, and an area for a live band to perform. Contests for House Points: Needs approval from me first. She turned to the girls, "Any questions?" Professor Gunvald revealed a proud smile. "I must say, I'm impressed with both of your initiation of an idea to make a welcoming change. I'm awarding each of you 5 points, totaling 10 points to Gryffindor." She looked at them both smiling, wondering if they had any questions or suggestions about the dance. Isla beamed as Professor Gunvald approved their idea and gave them additional house points for the initiation. It had been almost an impulsive move, but one that she was happy she made. "Yes! Thank you Professor." She said as she read the terms given by the Headmistress.
Okay, October 1st, giving us a limited amount of time to make it happen. But Isla was prepared. "October?" She said, raising her eyebrows toward Gwen, "Maybe a Halloween theme?" She suggested.
Remembering a request she had from her classmate Loce, "I do have one questions...Can we include some sort of contest for House Points?" She shrugged, "Unsure what it could be, potentially an enchanted costume contest? Or a small talent show of safe spells?" She eyed Gwen, wondering if she liked those ideas or had some of her own for a contest at the dance.

Once Isla grabbed Gwen’s arm and towed her over to speak to the Headmistress, it all went very quickly and very smoothly. Isla presented the idea perfectly, highlighting the importance of bringing the houses together, school spirit and unification… all those key words that would appeal to the staff. Of course those things were important, but Gwen was just really looking forward to seeing an atmosphere of fun. She’d never attended a school dance before. Her cousins, her muggle cousins, spoke highly of their multiple formals, proms, homecomings, and all the other occasions in-between that were celebrated with a dance. It must be a good time to hold them so frequently, no? Gwen was thrilled in the direction of the conversation and Headmistress Gunvald was really open interested in the idea, she could feel it, which made her grin. She was confident that her and Isla had crossed the first bridge to pulling this thing together.
Gwen cast a quick, excited glance at Isla before leaning forward to inspect the conjured document offered to them. It had all the information filled in, minus some of the real particular details of theme or set up design and layout for the event. “We coudln’t be more excited, Headmistress. Truly, we believe this is going to set the best tone for the start of the year.” She looks again at Isla, wondering if they should be speaking up on anything else before moving forward.

The Headmistress couldn't be prouder of the two girls, they were coming into their own as they advanced through their years. Their enthusiasm for the event was contagious, even Isadora smiling. Her mind was already running through the logistics and staff arrangements that would need to take place. She chuckled to herself. Isadora had just employed Dragomir Ghica, perhaps he could help chaperone. A vampire might help keep them on their toes.
"A Halloween theme? Perhaps just keep it to autumn. We will have something for Halloween when the time comes." She said respectfully, attempting to guide versus control their ideas. She pursed her lips for a moment before smiling, "A fair contest might help bring some comradery, I suppose. Though of course, following all school rules and manner of conduct." Isadora raised an eyebrow before turning to her levitating quill and notebook again. After a few moments of writing, she turned the parchment to them again:
Approved "Homecoming Dance" Contests:
• Enchanted Costume Contest - Students will display their ability to weave magic into anything through a costume or design of their choosing. When the contest begins, students will change out of their dress robes/dresses and into their costume and walk down a path of brilliant, levitating glowing pumpkins to reveal their costume to their classmates. Costumes may be of any kind of magical or non-magical material, and may include as many features as they'd like - as long as they aren't dangerous or lethal. Example: An enchanted, levitating knight with a dragon charmed to breathe fire from its mouth.
• Contest of Charms - Students will display their ability to cast at least 1 skilled charm meant to entertain, teach, or woo the crowd around them. When the contest begins, students will be called to take the stage and reveal their charm. There are no grades here — only audience applause. Students may use props as needed to properly exhibit their charm. Example: Using ‘Engorgio’ to enlarge a massive pumpkin on stage, leaving students laughing and Professors frowning.
Students attending the dance will vote upon their favorite costume or charm in RP. Player with most votes wins +20 Points for their House.
“These are the only two contests I will be approving. I will be posting the options on my information board. Your classmates will vote to see which holds more interest.” She cast a weary eye at Isla, having a feeling she may need to keep the girl’s ambitions within order. Professor smiled warmly at Gwen, “I’m happy to have helped. I must admit, I’m excited too. It’s been too many years since the Great Hall has been used for anything besides Sorting ceremonies, meals, and chess practice…” She drifted, “Thank you girls. Any questions, please come to me.”
