Okay, being stood up sucked. That hadn’t happened in a long time. Maybe since third year? Yeah, third year when Mary left him hanging at Honeydukes for hours as he assured himself she would 100% show up.
She didn’t.
At least this time he wouldn’t fool himself into waiting that long. It had been 15 minutes. That was enough for him. He thought about leaving…but decided to stick around and stay. After all…enough people passed through here that he’d probably find someone else to hang out with. Hell, maybe he’d even find a date to homecoming.
He loosened his tie and leaned against the wall, looking purposefully bored.

Ameryn had spent the last better part of two hours dragging herself through a reading assignment that she had been putting off until the last possible minute. She’d start the first paragraph. Read it. Read it again. Read it one more time. And then start to get droopy-eyed. It was better than any bedtime story or nursery rhyme she’d ever heard. Put her right to sleep. The Medieval Assembly of European Wizards. They were interesting enough... Bravery against fantastic beasts and all that. But hearing about it was a thousand times better than reading about it. Every time she tried to get through that reading it was like the last thing in the world she wanted to be doing.
In celebration of completing the assignment, finally, she left the confinements of her dorm. In an effort to stretch her legs she wanders the corridors, eventually finding herself end up in the entrance hall. She makes her way down the beautiful wide marble staircase and eyes the enormous double doors to the right that lead into the Great Hall. She pauses, debating her next move.

"Well if it isn't Davies," he calls as soon as he spots her. He didn't know her well, only through classes and enough to be friendly. "What has you away from your books on a day like today?" He gives her a smile, still leaning against the wall. He has a hand in his pocket, perfecting the lazy-I-could-hardly-care type of stance. She was very pretty. He'd never failed to notice that. But never really had a chance to have a full conversation with her outside of the classroom.

Ameryn’s attention is pulled when she hears her last name. Oh boy, She smiles at Liam Greenway, the picture of ease leaning against the enormous stone wall. “Liam.” She greets, with a raised brow. The two had never interacted before, outside of competing on the pitch. “Books and I don’t get along nearly as well as they do with my sister,” Ameryn says with a casual shrug.
She runs one hand through her short silky black hair and wonders how long until it grows out again to be back at her sister’s length. “What about you? Waiting for a date?” Ameryn asks looking around the area at other students and teachers passing through the space. Aside from seeing him on the Slytherin Quidditch team or in classes, Ameryn felt like the only other time she’d seen Liam he was always with a girl.

"I was. Seems like she found something better to do with her time," he says as he checks his watch. "Lucky you found me. I could have died from boredom and loneliness otherwise." He gives her a charming smile. "Did you and your books get into a fight?" he asks her. He reaches up to run a hand through his hair. Half of it was habit, half of it was that it usually helped keep girls' attention on him. "You should be careful - I've heard some of the books in the library will actually fight back."

Ameryn finds that Liam has a sort of effortless charm about him. In other circumstances, she might say his behavior was obnoxious… but somehow, almost confoundingly so, Liam pulls it off. Endearing to an extent; something she would never admit outloud. It seemed like the kind of thing he’d never let go of. “Die of boredom and loneliness?" Ameryn can’t help but laugh, “Wow, what a tragedy. I suppose I arrived just in time then.” She winks.
Ameryn looks around the area, at the passing students and decides to sit on the steps near where Liam had been hanging. “Books and I just never hit it off. I wouldn’t call it a fight… per say.” She replies and again he makes her laugh. That’s important to her. She loves a guy who can make her laugh. Who can banter with her on the fly. She watches him pull his fingers through his hair and she resists making a comment about how his hair was longer than hers… because again, he just made it work.
“You’re probably right. Next time I need a book I hope I can count on you as backup.” There is the slightest hint of question coloring her statement. “So, Liam, Slytherin vs. Gryffindor…” She segues, leaning her elbow on her righ knee and resting her chin on the fingers of her closed fist. She smiles at him. "That was quite the game."

"It would have been an incredible tragedy. The world couldn't possibly go on. It would be seriously lacking without me." He laughed, being purposefully overly dramatic. Then he nods as he hears her next comment. "Yeeaaah. That was quite a game. You guys put up a good fight. You should be proud," he pointed out to her. He supposed he probably could have done more to help, but there was only so much he could do about other people's actions. He wasn't sure if his actions would make a difference or not. "Anneli should get better soon," he tells her. "Everyone on your team fare okay afterward?"

"Oh Liam," Ameryn chuckles, "The world would definitely lack something without you. Especially that quidditch team of yours. I don't think they'd be able to cope with such a loss." She smiles at him. Whether or not she fanned the flames of his ego, she didn't mind. Liam seemed like a genuine person, not ever appeasing anyone or trying to be something he was not. "I know we did. We'll get you on the next go 'round, I'm confident." She smirks at him brightly in regards to her house team. "Our team was in high spirits afterward." She replies, "Win or lose, it was a damn good opening game for the year." She said honestly. Couldn't have asked for a more exciting season starter. Anneli Oden's injury the only accident marring the event. And boy had that hit been a rough one. Ameryn winced in memory, guilty that she was glad it hadn't been any one from her own team. "So, Out of curiosity," And possibly against her better judgement, she asks anyways, "What did you have planned for your date that didn't show?"

"Always good to have your hopes up," he tells her, regarding the quidditch match. He didn't believe for a second that Gryffindor had a chance against them whenever they played each other next. He shifts against the wall, keeping his back against it as he puts a foot down so both feet were solidly against the floor. "I had a lovely walk planned and then if she wanted, a nice candlelit dinner by the lake. Romantic, I know." And then he had some...other things planned...if the night went well. But he didn't need to share those details quite yet. "Who knew Liam Greenway was a romantic?" he jokes.

Ameryn laughed, unable to stop herself. “Oh yes, wow.” Her tone dripped with hints of sarcasm, “Quite the romantic indeed...” She agrees with a vigorous nodding of her head, her black hair shifting with the movement.
She crosses her arms and eyes him. She’d be surprised if he even knew his date's last name… maybe even her first name. “And how many of these candle-lit dinners have your orchestrated this year alone so far?” She inquired questioningly.
“Is that your go-to move?” He had to have some kind of default move that earned him all these different dates. If he wasn’t out on the quidditch pitch chasing bludgers around the arena, he was running through these halls chasing skirts. Or so his reputation would have you think.
This was the first time Ameryn was getting to know him. She was curious how much truth those rumors held.

"Oh, a gentleman never tells. Sorry to disappoint, my dear," he tells her with a grin. He never kept track. It was probably better that way. Was it more pathetic to lose count or not keep track in the first place? He thought the first. He knew rumors swirled around him, but he never let them bother him. In his opinion, everyone else needed to loosen their ties and relax.
"I still have the candles if you're in need of something to do," he teases with a wink.

Ameryn shrugs, "Oh well, was worth the ask." She says with a chuckle.
Liam had always seemed like the most approachable of the Slytherin quidditch team. The one who was looking for a good time. Someone to play with and laugh with. She eyes him, assessing the situation, "You know what? Why not."
She was up for the challenge, if he was, "Entertain me. Impress me, Liam Greenway." She crosses her arms and tilts her head a bit, smirking at the tall boy. She had no clue what to expect from him, what tricks he'd have up his sleeve, but she doubted any of his usual tactics would work on her. She was justs looking to have a little fun and Liam seemed like just the guy to supply that.

“Say less.” He gives her a grin before he bows low before her and then holds out his hand. “My lady,” he says dramatically. “Would you do me the honor of taking a lovely little stroll with me?” He tilts his face up toward her, still giving that award-winning smile.
She may think she was immune to his charms, but that’s what everyone said. They ultimately were won over in the end. He watched Ameryn closely, to gauge her reaction. She might be a new challenge, but he was up for it. No doubt rumors would swirl tomorrow, but Liam was good at ignoring them. He hoped Ameryn would be too.

Ameryn watches Liam bow before her and she rolls her eyes and shakes her head. She nearly bursts out laughing at the display of it all. "Lady? Lovely little stroll?" She had never heard Liam speak this way before, it was comical. "You are too much, Greenway." She chuckles.
Ameryn stares at his extended hand, and gnaws on her bottom lip as she contemplates. With a quick shrug, she figures, oh why not. Might as well have a bit of fun now and again. That was Ameryn's whole motto anyways, so she had to live up to it right. She takes his hand, "Oh, I just can't wait to see what happens next." She smiles.
