The Charms classroom is located on the third floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in the designated Charms corridor. The room itself is a long, narrow space with elevated sections of floor on either side that allow for two rows of tiered seating. The large wooden desks which allowed students to sit alongside each other were all situated facing the center of the room almost like lining a runway. The front of the room and centered down the main floor space is the professor’s table; an enormous dark mahogany desk neatly organized with parchments, and quills but piled rather messily with books both atop the table and surrounding it. Two immense blackboards flank the professor’s desk on either side with chalk charmed to float nearby, waiting for instruction to write or draw at the professor’s command. Behind the desk, the wall is lined with an overflowing shelf about waist height, overcrowded with books and other magical objects.
And finally, the most commanding aspect of the classroom: the gigantic window behind the professor’s desk and above the shelf that sends sunlight cascading into the room.
Juniper Barnes walks along the room toward the professor's desk. Her desk. She kind of still can’t believe it and it brings the slightest of smiles to her lips. She looks at the chalkboards, at the beautiful window and then ultimately decides to on settling behind the desk.
She looks forward to see what the students could do. She was thankful to be able to teach higher levels than just first years. As exciting as it is to witness a first year's enthusiasm over levitating their first feather, Juniper was also hoping to cover some more in-depth material.
Her eyes fall on a book that lay open at the center of the desk; just some light reading for fun. Something to keep her preoccupied until the class fills and it’s time to begin.
House Cup Points for Participation:
1. Attend Class (minimum 1 post per class) +10 pts 2. Correctly Answer Question in Class (first to respond correctly) +5 pts 3. Earn or lose house points assigned by the Professor at their discretion.

Theo entered the Charms classroom, ready to see what this new professor was like. He was one of the first students to arrive and found the professor quietly reading at her desk. She didn't look intimidating at all. Maybe this class would be a breeze, the thought wishfully. He mumbled a “Good morning,” while still rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He slumps into a seat of the lower front level of desks. He wants to be eager to soak up all the knowledge the professor has to offer…. But he also just wants to get back into bed.
As he sat there, waiting and trying to keep his eyes open, he hears another student enter the room.

Gwen's excitedly approached the charms classroom. She had heard rumors that Professor Barnes was an interesting professor, somewhat tough at times, but Gwen was excited nonetheless. Gwen loved the practicality of charms, and she was eager to learn some new spells and perfect her wand techniques.
As she entered the classroom, she notices Professor Barnes sitting at her desk. “Morning, Professor.” She says quietly. She sees that the room is still sparse of students. Gwen had scanned the room quickly, hoping to spot a familiar face but only one student is seated so far. She breathes a sigh of relief when she sees it is Theo sitting in one of the front rows. Should that feeling be one of relief?
Gwen pauses, unsure where their friendship stood after their brief interaction in the restricted section of the library, but ultimately makes her way over to Theo and regards him with a smile. “Do you mind if I sit here?” She asks, pointing to the empty seat beside him.

Loce sauntered into class wincing with the glare from the window. He was later than usual but still early considering. He was whistling quietly to himself, in a good mood despite the hour. “Hey Professor, how goes?”. He stops, looking at her curiously for a moment then shrugs, she looked familiar. He spots Theo and Gwen as he enters the room and nods to them both. Theo looked like he was going to fall out of his chair. “Late night Theo?” he asks with a quick laugh as he hops up to the back row, taking a seat as far out of the reach of the blasted window as possible, and making sure not to leave any room behind him for unwanted guests. He pulled out some parchment and a quill and began to draw, continuing to whistle to himself. He laughed, nodding and looked up. “Excuse me professor? Did you go to Ilvermorny?” He asked. If so, he knew where he’d seen her, or at least her picture, before. He also wondered if she had been back there recently. If he was right, this might be a rather interesting, and potentially useful, class after all.

Turning, Theo sees Gwendolyn Shaw walking towards him, a small smile on her face. Theo can't stop his thoughts from recalling their history. He had messed it up, but seeing her again still makes him face how much he missed her.
Gwen asks to take the seat next to him, and he feels a wave of happiness. “Please, do.” He replies. “How are you?” He asks, feeling the need to fill silence with small talk.
As other students begin to trickled in, Theo couldn't help but glance at the door each time. He had been hoping that Isla would be in this class.
He sees Loce enter and make a comment about his obvious tired state, earning a chuckle from Theo, "Oh you know... " He calls back with a casual shrug, not really admitting to anything, of course.
Theo stole glances at Gwen every now and then as he waited, he didn't know exactly how to reconcile these conflicting emotions concerning her because he knew how genuinely excited he was about this new path with Isla Reinhardt.
Something about Isla just felt right to him. For him.
And of course, Gwen was currently hanging out with Isla's brother, Fergus, which honestly made no sense to Theo, but there's that.
The door opens again and Theo's head turns unstoppably, hoping to see that flash of wild red hair.

Reece enters the Charms classroom and peers around the long room. There aren't many others here yet but he does spot Loce so he heads in that direction. "Hey," He greets, "I'll leave the spot next to you open, of course." He chuckles a little bit. Loce and Anneli were practically attached at the hip.
"Ready for a little charm work." Reece waggles his brow at Loce as he plops into a seat in from of him. He looks around again, professor sitting at her desk. Two other students sitting closer to the front... He notices one of them is Theo Cole and he girl he's with was notably not Isla. Hmm. Reece contemplates asking Theo where Isla is, but think better of injecting himself into any kind of situation.
His eyes drift lazily over to look at the board but its blank. He has no idea what to expect for the first lesson with Professor Barnes.
He leans back in his seat, hands resting comfortably on the back of his head. He hopes when Anneli finally does show up, that Cordelia is with her.

There was a lightness to her heart as she strolled through the corridors. A positive string of recent events had eased some of the weight of the world. Between the after party and Loce's birthday surprise, Anneli felt undeserving even if she knew better. If she were any younger, she might have skipped down that hallway. Their love had allowed her some freedom to be happy, despite the tug of worry that played at the back of her mind. She looked forward to the class as she thought back to the Contest of Charms. Gwendolyn Shaw had beat her for first place by slim margin. Anneli respected the skill, even if she was Fergus' new love interest. If anything, she felt bad for the girl in some way. If she and Gwen were friends, she would tell her the truth. Fergus was surely hiding it from her.
She entered the room, the sunlight drenching her from the massive windows. Anneli nodded as she passed, "Good morning, Professor Barnes." She didn't know this Professor yet, but was curious about her. Charms could be incredibly useful or ridiculously useless, depending on how it was applied. Her poise gave way as she spotted him. Anneli had learned to look in the back row for Loce. He was clever in the choice. "Bore da, cariad," She said softly, moving to kiss his cheek as she set her things down. Anneli knew better than to cast more attention their way, but found it difficult not to slip into natural affections around him. It was still very new and challenging to avoid the natural temptation. She readied herself for the start of the lesson, straightening as she pulled out a quill and some parchment.

Loce grins at Reece as he comments on leaving the seat next to him open. “Thanks mate, I owe ya one.” He said nodding. He was certain Anneli would turn up sooner rather than later, but he still caught himself glancing at the door waiting expectantly to see her. “If I’m correct, we may be in for a fun term.” He says, glancing briefly at the professor again. It had to be her, he just knew it. He wished he had taken more note of the name associated with the photo. But at that point, he could have cared less about charms or anything but potions. He dropped his attention back to his drawings, the second dragon of the heart beginning to emerge. His head snapped up as he heard Anneli address their teacher. His heart beat faster, although he knew she would come to sit by him. He always felt a shiver of anticipation when she first entered a room. Although, her entering a room he was already in was becoming less and less of a thing. Not that he minded spending every available minute with her. “God morgon, älskling.” He smiled as she kissed his cheek and set her things down. As she settled next to him, he reached over and placed a hand on her thigh, squeezing lightly and letting it continue to rest there. He had bee looking forward to Charms after making the connection as to who she was. But seeing Anneli made him wish they were back in the forest in private.

Isla walked into the Charms classroom with a grin. She felt refreshed. Her hair smelled of rose water from the bath in the girl's bathroom. The Homecoming dance and after party had been perfect. They distracted her from some of the hard truths that surrounded her family. Her hair glowed red in the sunlight cast from the windows. She scanned the room, smiling as she saw Theo and Gwen. Then her stomach turned. Isla couldn't sit with either of them. They were smiling at each other. Something about their interaction played at the fringes of her mind. It was nothing, she hoped.
She sat at the desk parallel to them. "Hey Gwen, hey Theo," Isla grinned at them, obscuring her previous thoughts. She pulled out some parchment, scribbling notes. Her red hair hung in a curtain around her face. Isla thought it was stupid to suspect anything. She focused her mind onto class.

Ezra strolled into class, a bag strapped around his back. He carried with him a auburn leather book with shiny gold text at the front which read, "The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 6". He rubbed his eyes, stretching as he scanned the room. Ezra half-heartedly nodded to Loce and Anneli then waved to Isla and Theo. He hadn't slept much. His mind still swirled with the dreams that woke him up in the dead of night. He wasn't one for Divination nor superstition, yet the dreams weighed heavily on his usually jovial mind.
He took a seat at the front of the class, "Hello Professor Barnes." Ezra greeted with a nod, taking out parchment and a quill for notes.

Oliver walked into Charms with a shit-eating grin plastered to his face. He walked with confidence, his tall frame bounding through the room. His hands were held casually by his robes pockets. It was a nice morning after the dance and Halloween feast. October had certainly set the tone for a fun year, despite some of the mishaps. He had gained some new friends and a foe, Loce Vaisey. It wasn't because he was with a girl far out of his league. No, it was because the eejit had helped to put Anneli in the hospital wing and himself in detention with a half-baked plan. Then had the nerve to rant and rave about respecting women. Oliver shrugged off the thoughts. He had other matters to be concerned about.
He scanned the room, smiling toward the professor. She was bonnie. He'd at least give the class that, "'Morning to ya, Professor," Oliver greeted, tipping his head to her. He grinned, noticing a spot next to Isla Reinhardt, "Dare she is, best seeker in al' de lan'. Mornin' Isla," He nodded, smiling. Oliver cast another look around the room. He rolled his eyes as he scanned over Loce. His smug demeanor was irritating, just like Fergus'. Oliver took an old notebook from his bag and slapped it on the table. He leaned back, folding his arms behind his head and yawning. "Aye, Gwen, Theo, how goes mate?" Oliver greeted as he stretched.

Loce watched Theo and Ezra, both were tired, Theo looked exhausted. He smirked and shook his head. Couldn’t have them nodding off in class. Then again, If Theo did it might take house points from them, which could only help Slytherin. He shrugged and reached into his bag, pulling out a couple of vials. He kept a supply for himself, if he ever needed it, Muggle Studies and History of Magic were two classes where sleep was a definite threat for him. The vials were clearly labeled Invigoration. He charmed one to Theo and one to Ezra, watching as they landed neatly on the desk before them. He finished up the drawing while Anneli settled herself, then slipped the sketch of the dragon heart from the fireworks display on top of her parchment. The word För alltid written in the center of the heart. The initials LMV drawn into the scale pattern of one dragon and AVV drawn into the scale pattern of the second. He winked at her, and reached to take her hand.

Jadis Ravenwood, a unique and vibrant individual with striking purple hair that falls in wild waves around her shoulders, enters the charms classroom for her first lesson. Her observant eyes immediately catch sight of a familiar face—Loce, a fellow student. She greets him with a simple hello, complete with a fake Bostonian accent, “Howahyah.”
Jadis settles into a seat in one of the front row pews, her bag slung carelessly beside her. The bag itself is a reflection of her scattered nature, as she rummages through it, pulling out parchment and a quill. Her bag is a chaotic mixture of books, snacks, and various magical items. While her bag may be messy, Jadis’ notes are generally meticulously organized, with vibrant colorful inks. She immediately begins drawing playful doodles in the margin of her paper while she waits for class to begin.

Loce grinned at Jadis as she mimicked his Boston accent. “Get outta heh, kid.” he laughed and shook his head. “You could pass for one of 'em if you wanted to… though I don’t know why anyone would. Makes you sound second class, like the garish mountain Irish brogue.” He shrugged. “Jadis, this is Anneli. Anneli, this is Jadi, the one I told you about that I met in Hogsmeade.” he said by way of introducing the two.

Post by Bellamy Raya Saffron on May 24, 2023 20:55:33 GMT -8
Bellamy Saffron, with her dark hair cascading down her back, strode purposefully through the Hogwarts corridors towards the Charms classroom. She was dressed impeccably in her Slytherin robes, radiating an air of confidence.
As she reached the classroom door, Bellamy took a moment to make sure she revealed nothing but poise. She pushed open the heavy wooden door and entered the room, her eyes immediately scanning the area. The classroom was already filling with students, and she spotted a familiar face or two among them.
Reece, who she probably knew the best of the bunch was there. Anneli Oden, a strikingly beautiful girl whose presence turned heads wherever she went, almost to an obnoxious extent. Bellamy's lips curled into a small smile as she acknowledged them both with a nod, a silent acknowledgment of the camaraderie they shared within the house. Bellamy's attention then fell on the newest face among the Slytherins, Loce. He's talking to a girl she does not recognize, one with ostentatious purple hair and Hufflepuff robes. Interesting. "Good morning, everyone." She nods, "Professor Barnes." She also acknowledges.
Bellamy made her way towards the top rows of seats, where she preferred to position herself. She chose a spot that allowed her a clear view of the entire classroom, ensuring she wouldn't miss a single moment. Sitting down gracefully, she crossed her legs and adjusted her robes.
Bellamy felt a small sense of anticipation. Professor Barnes, the new Charms professor, had a reputation as a formidable dueling champion. Bellamy hoped the class would be as intriguing as the professor herself.
With a subtle smile, Bellamy allowed her gaze to drift towards the front of the room, where Professor Barnes sat at her desk, engrossed in a book. As she observed the professor she wondered what kind of lesson awaited them. Would it be a difficult challenge? Or would it be simple and boring?
