When Aracely woke up this morning, she found herself in a rather good mood. After eating breakfast and attending a few remarkably interesting lessons, she found she had the rest of the day to herself to decide what to do. The sun was shining high in the sky and the little breeze that was blowing from the south made this Autumn, mid-September day seem more like a time set in March or April.
Students were milling around, cloaks billowing behind them as they passed by the blanket on which Aracely had laid out carefully across the grass of the castle lawn. She was leaning back casually, propped up by her elbows, face turned upward at the sky noticing the little white puffy clouds passing by slowly. A small smile finds her lips as she enjoys the sunshine.
This Ravenclaw 6th year sighs after a calm moment, thinking that she should probably head inside and study, or accomplish some sort of productive task, but it was way too beautiful to stay indoors-- so having lugged some books with her, she had told herself she could study outside… but now that she's here Aracely let her head tilt back and she started noticing little shapes in the clouds. Very out of character for her.

Ameryn had spotted her sister early that afternoon trudging through the corridors with a blanket and large bag, undoubtedly stuffed to the brim with books. She was intrigued by the blanket though. Was she off for a picnic? Ameryn was accustomed to finding her sister holed up in the library most afternoons, so this was a change of pace. It made Ameryn grin. Invitation or not, Ameryn wasn’t going to pass on this.
She followed her outside and down to the lawns, watching with piqued interest as she got herself set up. This was Ameryn’s favorite version of her twin. More open. More fun. Rare cracks expose the more relaxed sister that lives within her.
Finally, after allowing her a moment of peace she can’t help herself. She plops down right beside her sister and offers over a basket that she snagged on her way out, from the great hall. Snacks and beverages. “You’ve got the right idea today, it is gorgeous out here.”

Aracely doesn’t even flinch at the interruption. Her eyes slide over to meet her sister’s gaze. Not particularly annoyed, because she’s not surprised. Not really. “Nothing better to do but harass me today?” Aracely jokes, but sits straighter and picks through the basket. She finds some treacle tarts and smiles. Ok, now this afternoon is perfect. For the moment.
She nibbles at the sweet treat and gazes at her sister and her recently short chopped haircut. The thing that now set the girls apart. That and the fact that Ameryn wore slightly darker shades of makeup most days.
She looks at her bag of books, “But seriously, I do need to get to work so don’t get too comfortable.” She warns her sister sternly. She has an essay that she’d written that needed some revising. Third drafts were always the best she believed.

Ameryn grins at her sister, "Don't you know? Harassing you is the always the best thing I could be doing, dear sister." She playfully nudges her twin and reaches over to pluck the treacle tart from her hands and finishes off the last bite despite there being more of them up for grabs inside the basket. That was more fun. She rolls her eyes, "Of course you, I wouldn't dream of interrupting your work." Ameryn spies the books lurking just behind Aracely and wonders how best to distract her for the time being, directly contradicting her words.
She surveys the lawns, searching for something... “Oy!” she yells out, noticing a solitary figure among the other students already preoccupied in groupings. “Care to join us? We've got the good stuff!” She raises her hand to show off a pack of chocolate frogs as reward and waves them enticingly, accompanied by a laugh-- probably much to Aracely's horror. Ameryn has always been the extroverted twin. The one who loved talking to people and thriving in social settings.

Ezra strolled down to the lawns, his tall stature overlooking other students as he passed. It was an unusually warm day outside for September, and Ezra loved it. He just hoped the skies would stay this visible at night. The last few nights he could barely make out Mercury from the Astronomy Tower. He carried a messenger bag and his trusty telescope on his back, looking for a place to finish completing his star chart.
Just then, he heard the voice of a girl calling over to him asking him to join. Something about ‘we’ve got the good stuff.’ He looked over to see two girls, potentially twins, sitting on a blanket nearby. Ezra shrugged and sauntered over. He had become more confident through the years and was finally coming into himself. He no longer worried about meeting new people, girls in particular.
“Good morning.” Ezra greeted, “Can I sit with you?” He asked, eyeing the pack of candy the girl held. “I heard chocolate frogs were part of the deal.” Ezra smiled and winked playfully at the pair.

Ameryn grins at her success as the boy approaches. She doesn’t recognize him but that’s even better in her opinion. Someone entirely new to meet. She tosses the chocolate frogs his way and scooches over a bit, toward her sister, to pat the space beside herself. “Of course, how else would you get to enjoy all these sweets with us?” She laughs.
Ameryn somewhat avoids making eye contact with Aracely, not sure how upset she’d be or if she would just go with the flow. For once. She offers up the basket for him to sift through, “There is one condition on my end…” she says, in a feigned very serious tone. She lets that hang in the air for a moment and then continues… “If you’ve got a Carlotta Pinkstone silver edition card in that chocolate frogs pack you have to hand it over.” She lifts a finger and points at him accusingly.
Then she smiles, and nods toward her sister, “This one has been searching for that card for as long as I can remember.” Ameryn picks up a fizzing whizzbee and watches it float above the palm of her hand before popping it into her mouth.

Ezra blushed for a moment, he wasn't used to pretty girls greeting him with grins. Being a Prefect and Astronomy-obsessive hadn't necessarily lead to many formal meetings. Regardless, Ezra had some experience and the past summer had only helped that. "You had me at sweets." He said laughing along with the girl, "Ezra." He introduced himself looking from the grinning girl to the student on the picnic blanket. "Your names? Also...going out on a limb here, twins?" He said, almost hesitant, he wasn't sure and didn't want to offend them.
He took the basket curiously, eyeing it's contents, and wondering if this might be a prank. His brother Peter had been prone to those, and this felt like a set-up. Either way, he was happy to go along with it. Ezra smiled up at the girl, "Easy deal." He said, grabbing a pack and moving to sit on the blanket opposite the quiet girl. He was invited, after all. "Have you an interest in card collecting?" Ezra said to the unknown girl, a hint of enthusiasm lifting his inflection. He had started his collection during his first year, the cards perfectly sealed in his chest in the castle.

Aracely’s eyes widen at Ameryn’s actions. If new attention wasn’t on them she’d have whacked her sister’s arm. She unnoticeably shoots her a look but, wisely, Ameryn averts her gaze. Aracely sits a bit straighter at Ezra’s arrival. They’d never spoken before but it was inevitable seeing as they were both prefects this year. She wouldn’t admit to Ameryn that this encounter could actually be a productive one.
She clears her throat quietly, her fingers running through her silken dark hair. “Twins.” She affirms with a small shy smile on her pink lips. She gestures to herself first, “I’m Aracely… this wild thing is Ameryn.” She says, gesturing now next to her. She hopes it comes across as playful banter, not too aggressive.
Aracely nods her head feeling a little embarrassed, “I started when I was little, and it just kind of stuck, I guess.” She felt a little uneasy, unnatural. She was supposed to be re-writing her essay right now and instead she was socializing? And probably poorly-- Ameryn always teased her about the short, brisk ways she often responded to people. Where Aracely might answer something with yes, no, good... Ameryn excelled at yes, no, good and... She could carry on a conversation forever. Admittedly Aracely found herself a little jealous of that natural skill.

After Aracely confirms their twin status Ameryn quickly chimes in, “Can’t you tell?” She folds one hand over the other and lifts them just below her chin, tilting her face a little with a showy smile. Apart from the crests of their robes and her newly shorter hair style, the girls were truly identical. She thought it was cute of Ezra to ask. And when referred to as wild she sticks her tongue out at Aracely. “Wild is just a synonym for fun, in my opinion.” She counters.
She eats another fizzing whizzbee and listens. It always seemed a little painful for her sister to be in unexpected social situations. She tried to help where she could. “Wait a minute,” Ameryn leans forward slightly getting a better look at Ezra. She doesn’t know him but she does actually recognize him… “Ravenclaw quidditch?” She says pointing at him and raising one brow. Ameryn moves then to point inward at herself, “Gryffindor Chaser.” She beams.
This is actually perfect. Ameryn had begged Aracely to try joining the house team, maybe he could convince her, if they were still in need of players. It didn’t hurt to have a rotation available, if anything. Ameryn considered various ways to broach the subject…

Ezra could sense that the girl on the blanket wasn't as open to random people sitting on their blanket, watching her eyes widen at his presence and wincing internally. He hated to make people, more specifically girls, feel uncomfortable. Ezra unwrapped a chocolate frog as the girl ran her hands through her hair, barely catching the fleeting chocolate before taking a bite. Ahhh, so they were twins. Their beauty was similar yet their personalities couldn't seem more different. He was curious. "Nice to meet you, Aracely," He said lowly, in between an awkward chew. Ezra laughed as she described her sister as a wild thing. He wondered what she meant by that. Half-intimidated but infinitely curious, "And of course you, wild thing." Ezra cast a grin at her, winking, "Erm, I mean, Ameryn."
He unfolded the wrapper to the find the card at the back, revealing a picture of Herman Wintringham. Ezra shrugged, he had pulled many copies of him before. "You have this one, if you want." He flipped the card toward her with a couple fingers. "I've collected since I was a first year, no shame here." He said winking at her, "I hear you're coveting a Carlotta Pinkstone silver edition card? I have two." He asserted, wondering if the girl might speak up about that news. Ezra had traded any entire summer of tutoring a seventh year in exchange for the extra card.
Ezra flashed a smile at Ameryn as she mentioned Quidditch, one of his many passions. He had been working out to prepare for future matches, training before viewing the sky at night by telescope. "Chaser, huh? I'll prepare to see you out on the field. Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw is the finale match this year," He paused for a moment, smiling and looking at Aracely, "What about you? Any Quidditch inclinations?"

“Nice to meet you, aslo.” Aracely nods her head and smiles politely. She leans forward slightly as Ezra opens the chocolate with a piqued interest. It would be high odds for the card to actually be Carlotta Pinkstone… but you never really know, and that’s what makes it fun.
She looks on eagerly: Wintringham. She accepts the card Ezra holds out, her fingertips touching his in the excahnge. “Oh, that’s very kind. I don’t have this one.” She says, with an inviting smile as she inspects the card. She lied. She already has a Wintringham. But why did she feel the need to lie? She places the card carefully next to her books and refocuses on the conversation.
Aracely finds herself laughing genuinely at Ezra’s question, “Quidditich inclinactions? Me?” She laughs again and shakes her head, the black curtain of her hair swaying back and forth.

Ameryn is pleasantly surprised to see that this was going smoothly. She’d kept an eye on Aracely to see how often she would glance at her books but, shockingly, she was really present. She laughs at Ezra’s repeatition of ‘wild thing’. There was something about him that she was instantly drawn to. He seemed open and fun, two qualities that Ameryn valued, obviously.
Just as she was enjoying this time it became clear that her sister wasn’t too annoyed by the situation either. Wintringham? Ameryn could have sworn that Aracely already had that card, but perhaps she was wrong… She eyed her twin with a subtle, curious glance, before responding to Ezra. “Oh yes, and it’ll be a finale-worthy match, I’m sure.” Ameryn winks.
“Oh, don’t listen to her.” Ameryn interrupts, “She’s always been great on a broom. Game play is not her strong suit per say…” Ameryn reaches into the basket again and pulls out a licorice wand. An acquired taste not many others liked. She used it to point at her sister, it flopping slightly in her hand. “She’s fast. I probably shouldn’t be saying this, as it’s against my own house… but, I’ve always said she’d make one hell of a seeker.” And with that Ameryn takes a bite out of the candy wand.

Ezra beamed as the girl's fingers touched his, mostly electrified with finding someone with the same hobby as his. He kept most of his time hyper focused on niche topics and collections, cards being one of them. It would be nice to chat with a pretty girl about them sometime. "Of course." He said graciously, nodding his head and smiling. Ezra took another bite of his chocolate frog, thinking briefly to a dance he had just heard announced.
He ogled at the swaying of Aracely's hair, struck with a wave of hormones. Ezra laughed, "Yes! Why not you?" He smiled at her, "Never say never, anyway" Ezra had loved the game for years, and he was willing to try and persuade anyone he knew into a match or two.
Ezra noticeably blushed at Ameryn's wink, not yet as highly skilled at her in the art of extraversion. He could barely believe he was sitting with two gorgeous, seemingly smart, girls anyway. Ezra smiled at the girl's description of her sister, admiring her ability to emphasis the positive qualities in others. "See? You're fast...and we're down a seeker. And I'm hopeless." He said laughing, his gaze shifting between the two.
"Besides Quidditch, I hear there's a dance coming up October 1st. Something about a Homecoming in the Great Hall..." Ezra shrugged, "Have you heard of it?" He asked openly, hoping one of the girl's may have.

Aracely smiles a little more openly now. This was getting easier; more comfortable. She laughs over Ezra’s eagerness regarding quidditch, it was nice though, to see someone talk about the things they loved. “I have always been interested in the game… and extra curriculars are beneficial.” She says after a thoughtful moment. Her fingers pick absentmindidly at the discarded wrap from Ameryn's licorice candy. “You know, I’ve always liked the chaser position. It’s good, a little healthy competition between sisters.” She says throwing a smile Ameryn's way.
If Aracely was being honest with herself she was more suited for seeker, but, something about Ameryn’s suggestion that she was bad at the game playing part made her more stubborn side flare-up. If there was something she wasn’t good at, Aracely would paractie until she was. She was an adept flyer and had practied plenty with her family during summer breaks. Maybe this was something she could do. Should do.
Now the mention of a dance? That was news to her. “A Dance?” She shakes her head and a little frown forms. She looks to Ameryn. Did she miss an announcement?

Ezra grinned at Aracely at the mention of extracurriculars. He had taken upon himself to sign up for three extra electives this year, hoping to make a good impression. His dream of working with the ministry, hopefully in their Astronomy towers, would some day come into fruition. He shook his head and looked at her smiling, "Can never have too many of those." Ezra gazed down toward her smile, "If you ever need personal lessons, I could help train you for the position." He shrugged, offering honestly. Ezra secretly reveled in the idea of being able to practice with a girl like her, who, seemingly never seen a real game of Quidditch. "It can get a little...rough out there. I have a long stretch of injuries I can help you avoid." He said winking at her, wanting to be honest before pulling her further into the game.
He laughed, almost blushing, "Yeah. Some dance being put on by Isla and Gwen, a couple of Gryffindor girls." Ezra leaned back, "It's on the night of October 1st, formal sort of event, dates needed and all..." He almost let that drift too long, "Are either of you going?" He said curiously, peering toward the two. He wasn't sure who he liked more, they were both so different. He decided then that would be too difficult too decide, he liked them both. Ezra took another bite of his chocolate and pulled out his almost-finished star chart, making a note before gazing back to them.
